Everything you need to know about GripRack performance, compatibility, and use.
Product & Safety
Is GripRack safe at highway speeds?+
Yes. GripRack's 200mm industrial suction cup is rated to 660 lbs of hold force — far exceeding the load of any bicycle at highway speeds. The built-in pressure gauge lets you confirm a secure seal before every drive. Always verify the green zone reading before departing.
Will it damage my vehicle's paint?+
No. The suction cup uses a soft, paint-safe silicone rim. It applies no adhesive and leaves no residue. We recommend a clean, dry surface for best adhesion. Always release the cup properly using the red tab — do not peel or yank the cup off the surface.
Can I use GripRack in rain or wet conditions?+
Suction strength may be slightly reduced on very wet surfaces. We recommend wiping the roof and cup surface before mounting in wet conditions. The hardware itself is weather-resistant and will not corrode in rain. Always check the pressure gauge before driving.
How long can I leave GripRack mounted?+
GripRack is designed for active transport, not long-term parking. We recommend removing the system when parked for extended periods, especially in direct sunlight or extreme heat, as thermal expansion can affect suction integrity over time.
Compatibility
What vehicles is GripRack compatible with?+
GripRack works on any smooth vehicle roof surface — sedans, SUVs, trucks, and hatchbacks. It is not designed for vehicles with heavily textured roofs, canvas convertible tops, or fabric sunroof panels. Curved roofs are fine; the suction cup adapts to moderate surface curvature.
What types of bikes fit?+
GripRack accommodates virtually any adult bicycle — mountain bikes, road bikes, gravel bikes, and e-bikes. The universal adjustable clamps fit handlebar diameters from 22mm to 35mm. Bikes with non-standard bar shapes or aero bars should be tested before highway use.
Do I need existing roof rails?+
No. That is the core advantage of GripRack. You do not need roof rails, crossbars, or any existing hardware. GripRack mounts directly to any smooth roof surface via suction.
How many bikes can I carry?+
The standard GripRack system is designed for one bike per unit pair. Additional units can be purchased and positioned side-by-side for multiple bikes, subject to your vehicle's roof width. Contact us for multi-bike configuration guidance.
